Loll Patio Furniture: Combining Eco-Friendly Materials With Aesthetics
As we begin the summer season it’s time to think of spending more leisure time outdoors. At EcoInhabit, our line of Loll Patio Furniture is a long lasting, no maintenance alternative for those conscious of limiting their carbon footprint.
Made from 100 per cent recycled materials, Loll’s attractive, modern pieces belie their humble beginnings as milk jugs, detergent bottles, margarine tubs and garbage containers.
After their intended use, these post consumer high-density polyethylene products find second life as outdoor furniture, instead of making their way to landfill sites. Further increasing its value as a sustainable alternative, all Loll furniture is recyclable.
West Paw Products: The Softer Side of Recycled Materials
West Paw Dog Beds is another EcoInhabit line that uses post-consumer plastic bottles to create an eco-friendly product. The company is committed to using the most sustainable material there is to offer and has found a way to turn discarded plastic bottles into fiber fill and stylish, durable fabric that is reminiscent of soft fleece.
After the labels are stripped from post-consumer plastic bottles, they are cleaned then chopped into flakes. From there the flakes are melted, liquefied and finally re-engineered into soft eco-fabrics West Paw calls IntelliLoft®. This recycling of polyethylene terephthalate, helps divert over 200 tons of plastic bottles from landfills every year.
Eco-Friendly Carpet
EcoInhabit carries a line of FLOR carpet which offers another innovative way to lessen our carbon footprint. The mix-and-match carpet squares that you assemble to create custom rugs, runners or wall-to-wall designs of any shape or size are made with varying degrees of renewable and recycled materials.
The carpet squares are recyclable, and through EcoInhabit, FLOR offers a Return & Recycle Program, making sure your old FLOR carpet squares don’t end up in a landfill. Simply return those carpet squares you no longer want to EcoInhabit so that we can send them back to FLOR’s Georgia facilities. From there, FLOR will turn the materials into new product.
During this process, FLOR cleanly separates face fiber and backing using their patented ReEntry 2.o technology. The face fibers are then reconstituted into new recycled nylon fibers and the backing is shredded into small pellets then heated and melted to create post-consumer backing.
Surprising Eco-friendly Innovations
Our line of PaperStone countertops are known as a sustainable material that is durable, long lasting, and come in a variety of warm, richly coloured hues. Made from 100 per cent post-consumer paper, and compressed with a petroleum-free resin, PaperStone countertops are VOC-free, heat-resistant and water-resistant, and most importantly are certified food safe by NFC.
Another eco-friendly option is our line of IceStone Countertops made of 100 per cent recycled glass in a cement matrix. These stunningly beautiful countertops are produced in slabs and come in a variety of colours. IceStone surfaces are the first and only Gold Cradle to Cradle certified surface material in the world.
EcoInhabit’s UltraTouch Denim Insulation offers the chance to insulate homes and buildings with a superior and safe product made from high quality natural fibers that provide excellent sound absorption and maximum thermal performance. UltraTouch contains no chemical irritants, making it a perfect choice for healthy homes and buildings.
A lot of what we throw into landfills can be used as the building blocks for a sustainable future. Now contemporary style and ecology go hand in hand thanks to products made with recycled materials.
